Timothy R. Meeks 4 President
As an Independent candidate, I will not make you any promises I cannot keep.
“Unity Is Needed”
Born in Georgia and raised in Florida. Went to Maynard Evans High School. Graduated in June of 1980.
September of 1980 enlisted in the United States Navy as an airman. Sent to the USS Mount Whitney LCC for my first duty station. About a year on board the ship became an illustrator draftsman. Was station on the ship for about three years. Reenlisted for shore duty. A year and a half I was temporarily assigned to Comsublant (a support unit for submarines). Afterwards my post was VAW-120 Squadron. In 1983 at the squadron is where I met my lovely wife Lucy. In February of 1988 I got an honorable discharged from the Navy as a Petty Officer 2nd Class (DM2).
For about a year worked for a company called Snappy Car Rental in Virginia then transferred to Florida to help out my family. In February of 1989 Lucy, the kids and I moved to Oregon to be with her family. After getting here no one would give me a job because I was overqualified.
Then Keller Supply Company (a plumbing warehouse) gave me a chance about 1989 or 1990 as a warehouse person. Became good at my job, it was a dirty job and I did not like it at all, but it brought money into the house for food and bills. In the early part of 1992 got laid off.
In the later part of the year I got a job at Mid-Willamette Jobs (MWJC) as an office assistant/employment consultant. I did that until 1999.
While working MWJC I saw a need that was hard for me to watch. Children of the families that came to the MWJC were not always getting things that they needed. So, in 1995 I started an organization call Through His Eyes Ministries in Oregon. We delivered items to families in need. We worked with many churches to help them establish connection with families. We gave school supplies, Easter Baskets, to families, churches, and to Union Gospel Mission. After connecting and noticing that there were more places to get this type of help, we closed in 2010. During this time, I took a few classes at Chemeketa Community College.
1999 I started working for the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) as office assistant 1 and worked up to an administration specialist 1. While at ODOT I started learning how to make forms and web sites nothing big, but it worked.
2001 I applied for a job at the Oregon Secretary of State in the Corporation Division as a web and publications coordinator. I kept up with the all the Corporation Divisions form, publications, internet website, and intranet website.
During 2000 and 2001 my wife Lucy suffered from migraines and unpredictable seizures where she would pass out and fall down. In 2001 my wife Lucy was diagnosed with a dying/dead thyroid.
2010 my wife and I had a decision to make regarding who will stay home and take care of our autistic grandchild. At my job we noticed that I was getting sick a lot, it was driving us crazy that we could not figure out why. For us I was the best choice to stay home to take care of him.
2011 she was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis, which progressed into progressive non-relapsing multiple sclerosis, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Over the years everything kept getting worse.
2014 our grandson was in school. I started looking for work again, was hired by Sodexo as a food service worker 2. It was part time work and seasonal. I worked with Sodexo until 2017.
By 2017 it was more important for me to be home for her and our autistic grandson.
In January of 2020 Lucy was diagnosed with Esophagus Cancer.
June 3rd, 2020 I officially became a politician.
